Farr 30 Racing and Americas Cup in San Francisco Bay
2013 will be a big year for yacht racing on San Francisco Bay with the Americas Cup here for the first time. A sailing vacation in San Francisco this year can double your fun: race on your favorite boat and see Americas Cup history first hand. The Americas Cup activities begin on July 4, followed by the Louis Vuitton Cup racing until August 30, then the actual Americas Cup September 7 through 21.
As the local fleet captain, I have requested a Farr 30 start for the following events:
July 27 – Westpoint Regatta, Sequoia YC sponsor, race is from Treasure Island to Redwood City, we have a one-design commitment with no minimum number of boats. This race is approximately 25 miles, usually mostly downwind.
Sept 27 to 29 -- Rolex Big Boat, St Francis YC sponsor -- 5 boat minimum
October 5 and 6 -- YRA Season Closer Corinthian YC sponsor– 5 boat minimum
Make your plans and mark your calendars now. I will send updates as regatta details become available (view calendar). Bring your Farr 30 to the bay area this summer, enjoy some great one-design racing, and watch some of the Americas Cup.
