2009 World Championship Venue Announced

2009 Farr 30 World Championship venue announced.

 

The International Farr 30 One Design Class Association is pleased to announce the venue and dates for its 2009 Word Championship. The event will be sailed in Porto Rotondo, Italy October 3 – 10, hosted at the Yacht Club of Porto Rotondo on the beautiful island of Sardinia .

 

Italian Farr 30 owner Vincenzo Onorato has commented that “Il Farr 30 è una delle più belle barche del mondo. Straordinariamente moderna, tecnica e marina ha ancora un lungo futuro da esprimere”, which translates in English to  “The Farr 30 is one of the most beautiful boats in the world. Extraordinarily modern and technical, she still has a long future to express herself.”

 

Vincenzo, as President of Moby Spa has kindly offered to grant a 50% discount on Moby Lines fares to all of the crews and boats participating in the event.

 

 

Italian Regional Fleet President Francesco Farnetti anticipates that 21 to 25 boats will compete and in addition to Italian boats, entries from other European fleets including France , Russia , Baltic, as well as the USA and Australia are expected.

 

Francesco says “It is a great pleasure for me and for the Italian class as well, to host the 2009 World Championship for FARR 30. We believe in this class and are sure that the next World Championship will be a great success.”

Their contributions mean that the racing at the next FARR 30 World Championship will take place in one of the most beautiful places in the world, from both the sailing and the environmental point of view.”

 

The 2009 world championship will be the first to be run under the new Farr 30 name and new class constitution, and the crowning of the victor at the conclusion is eagerly anticipated. Boats will compete for the Royal Canadian Yacht Club Trophy, an ornate silver cup that was deeded to the class in 1998
